From the dream of creating clothes to the top of world fashion

Young Sui has dreamed of becoming a designer since early childhood. That is why to achieve her dream she graduated from a pretty famous design school in New York, Parsons School of Design. While studying at the prestigious New York school, Sui met many other very talented people who are:
- a famous American photographer Steven Meisel, who helped Sui with a photoshoot for her first collection
- top model Naomi Campbell
- top model Christy Turlington
- top model Linda Evangelista and others.
All of them enthusiastically supported Sui in her endeavors. In particular, they became the first top models to wear clothes from Anna Sui and walked the catwalk.
While studying at the New York School of Design, Sui promoted her works quite actively. Namely, she published her designs in the well-known Italian magazine Lei.
When Sui graduated, she decided to work on creating youth clothing for famous sports brands. However, all of Anna’s clothes were so unusual and extravagant that they could not fit into the narrow concept of sports brands. Therefore, Sui decided to stop her work with sports brands and start creating clothes for chain stores in New York. Still, Sui always dreamed of building a personal brand. All her friends from the fashion world always supported her, so she ventured upon a new step in 1991. It was then that the Anna Sui brand was registered in New York City. The first official show of the brand brought Sui outstanding success in the fashion world.
A year later, Sui opened her first boutique in New York City. It was located in a very famous city district called Soho. Already in 1993, after two years of brand activities, Sui won a quite prestigious award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America for new talent in the “New name in the fashion world” category. Anna Sui had tremendous success in the world. In 1997, she opened her first boutique in Tokyo and shortly before in Osaka. It was the entry into the world market that brought the New York fashion designer world fame and love.
