The Story

Perth native Barry Dry moved to New York in 2011 to work in finance and kept missing one thing: the café culture Australians consider a birthright. So in 2014 he opened a coffee counter so small it named itself — a literal hole in the wall in Midtown. The idea grew into Parched Hospitality Group, and this Financial District café-bar became its flagship expression: Antipodean brunch, proper espresso and cocktails under one roof, steps from the Seaport’s cobblestones.

What to Order

Start with the avo toast that launched a thousand imitations — marinated feta, watermelon radish, tajín, sunflower crunch — or the Brekkie Roll, Australia’s answer to the bacon-egg-and-cheese, stacked with a hash brown and special sauce. The dulce de leche waffles are the table’s shared dessert-for-breakfast; the kimchi scramble and pulled pork Benedict reward the adventurous; the açaí bowl keeps the wellness contingent happy.
